| Description: | CERN website dedicated to the launch of its flagship research facility, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Website has images and descriptions of all of the pre-launch tests, plus a real time webcam. "The LHC is the highest energy particle accelerator on Earth," said Dr Aymar, "but the Universe has far more powerful ones. The LHC will enable us to study in detail under laboratory conditions what nature is doing already." The first attempt to circulate a beam in the LHC will be made on 10 September at the injection energy of 450 GeV (0.45 TeV). This historical event will be webcast through http://webcast.cern.ch, and distributed through the Eurovision network. See http://www.cern.ch/lhc-first-beam for further details.
