| Description: | With over 70 references, this white paper reports on a forum held to identify research areas to better understand learning from childhood to the workforce. This forum focused on cross-disciplinary interaction between experts in education and industry. The session focused on four major sessions: identifying workforce needs, factors effecting female and minority participation in IT careers, recruitment and restention issues for women and minorities and workforce training and retraining programs. In each of these areas, current research was highlighted, suggested strategies and model programs were presented, and continuing research needs were identified.
