The Foundation seeks to achieve maximum recognition for these two national swards and for the National Medal Laureates. The Foundation also strives to increase public awareness of how noble and important the pursuit of scientific discovery and technological innovation is. This passion for new knowledge has taken America and Americans beyond our own planet, to the bottom of our seas and deep within the neural pathways of the human brain. Economic strength, competitiveness, and a high standard of living are also dependent on our nation's ability lead the world through these pursuits. The Foundation is committed to inspire the leaders of tomorrow to pursue excellence in science and engineering by promoting the National Medal Laureates as role models.
