| Description: | InkSurvey is a classroom response system for Tablet PCs (free for non-commercial use by educators). With it, an instructor can pose an open-ended question in class to probe student understanding. Students then compose their responses on the Tablet PCs, using text or digital ink (graphs, equations, sketches,etc.). As the instructor refreshes his/her webpage, student responses are display as they are submitted. This real-time formative assessment promotes active learning and metacognition by all students, even when class enrollment is large (tested to 65). Thanks to a generous grant from HP, we now maintain a server that enables instructors from any institution to use the InkSurvey tool in their own classes. |

Engage students An overview of the InkSurvey software and it's impact on engagement is available at http://physics.mines.edu/outreach/classroomcommunicators/ A recent FIE paper shows that 100% of faculty surveyed agreed that "Compared with other innovations I have made in my teaching, I feel that using Tablet PCs in this manner has improved the learning that is occurring in my class." |
