| Description: | "The Program in Civil Engineering (CEE) offers one undergraduate degree and three graduate degrees â?? Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE), an undesignated Master of Science (MS), a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE), and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Civil Engineering provides undergraduate and graduate educational and research opportunities in five disciplines of civil engineering, including structural engineering, mechanics and materials; geo-systems engineering; transportation systems engineering; environmental fluid mechanics and water resources; and environmental engineering. The Program offers a wide range of electives to meet the interests of the student and the diverse needs of the profession. Civil Engineers must not only be technically proficient, but also effective in working with people and with professionals in other disciplines. The mission of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering is to create a quality education, research and service program designed to achieve five major program goals. 1. Educate a new generation of civil and environmental engineers to meet the challenges of the future. 2. Promote a sense of scholarship, leadership and service among our graduates. 3. Create, develop and disseminate new knowledge. 4. Play a leadership role in fostering interdisciplinary education and research programs fundamental to solving the problems facing a complex society 5. Provide national leadership to the civil and environmental engineering professions that are increasingly being driven by advances in technology. " |
