| Description: | Engineering students, through the use of this courseware and associated class work, can develop much-needed higher-level cognitive skills such as problem identification, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. The courseware uses video clips, audio messages, still pictures, and textual material to bring a problem that occurred at the Della Steam Plant into the classroom. Helpful competency and reference material are provided in the courseware. The associated coursework requires the students to analyze the case study in teams in a classroom and make recommendations. In addition, the courseware helps the instructors to educate their students on how engineering management decisions are made in a power plant. Also, a sample presentation is available in the courseware that could be used for comparison purposes. By integrating the asynchronous learning experience provided in the courseware and synchronous learning experience achieved in the classroom, this courseware brings real-world problems into engineering classrooms. Named Premier Courseware of 1998. CD ROM is available from the Laboratory for Innovative Technology and Engineering Education (LITEE) at Auburn University. |
