| Description: | This CD-ROM introduces basic astronomy and aerospace engineering by examining JPL's Mars Pathfinder and Mars Global Surveyor missions to Mars. There are hundreds of animations and narration in addition to the detailed graphics and text. Included are six interactive laboratories to help understand such topics as the motion of planets and mission design. There are complete databases on planets, rockets, and past NASA missions. Detailed interviews with JPL scientists, engineers, and employees allow the user to know more about the people that make these Mars missions successful. The content covers six major areas, including the solar system, stars, Mars, mission planning, traveling in space, and spacecraft design. In all, there are over 600 megabytes of detailed information and activities to learn more about space and the planet Mars. The content is not tied to any curriculum or lesson plan, but it is intended to be an exploratory learning experience. Named Premier Courseware of 1997.
