| Description: | ABET’s Linton E. Grinter Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding service to ABET, Inc. The recipient shall have a record of meaningful involvement in the work of ABET over a significant period of time. His/her work shall include significant contributions at several levels in one or more of the major activities of ABET; e.g., as an elected officer, an accreditation commission member, or service on standing or special committees. The recipient’s contributions shall have pertained directly to the work of ABET; the award is not intended to recognize outstanding service in some related activity of the constituent societies of ABET. The award may be conferred annually, but conferral is not required. As a general guide, the award might be conferred three times in four or five years. The president of ABET annually appoints a special committee for review of nominations for this award. The Awards Committee’s recommendations are presented to the Board of Directors for formal vote. The award is presented at ABET’s annual awards ceremony. In addition, the individual is recognized in the ABET Annual Report. |
