| Description: | This online caclulator uses a Java applet to simulate the Moody Diagram for determing friction factors for flows through pipes and ducts. Both turbulent and laminar flows are considered. The equations used in this program represent the Moody diagram which is the old-fashioned way of finding f. You may enter numbers in any units, so long as you are consistent. (L) means that the variable has units of length (e.g. meters). The Moody friction factor (f) is used in the Darcy-Weisbach major loss equation. There is a separate discussion and references for closed conduit flows, that also inlcudes talbes of properties for commonly used liquids and gases and for anumber of pipe and duct materials. |
