| Description: | The paper, prepared by Peggy James at Univ. of Wisconsin-Parkside, shows the results from a pilot project on cyber-based service learning in Nigeria are reported. Students worked on three projects with Nigerian organizations through electronic media. US students learned the applied aspects of working within a developing country and the different twists that conceptually similar problems might have in a developing country context. Community organizations received valuable help from students who were more connected to the internet and other materials than was available in Nigeria. Future community engagement projects are planned for Nigeria and Moldova. Keywords: service learning |
